A practical step by step guide: achieving profitable growth in cross border eCommerce

eCommerce is the fastest growing segment of European retail sales and online pure plays continue to power ahead. Going online cross border looks an increasingly enticing business opportunity for retailers. Many retailers believe that by selling online and cross border provides the potential for double digit growth – a desirable business opportunity when the traditional high street is challenged with flat growth rates and tight margins. Equally, finance and operations executives in these retailers are increasingly concerned that these so called ‘riches’ that exist online and cross border may come with considerable and often unforeseen costs and risks.This workshop will provide a practical step by step guide on the variables to consider and factor into business plans, leaving you with a simple framework to apply on returning to the office. It will also be highly informative and educational for both boardroom executives reviewing and considering online cross border business cases and professionals tasked with analysing the market opportunity and making these plans happen.

Simon Blosse, Products Digital Customer UKI, accenture
Simon Blosse is a digital retail specialist in Accenture Digital Customer, focusing on e-commerce technology and operations.

His 8 years of consulting experience has included assessment of retail business and technology capabilities, strategy, operations and enterprise services. He has supported development of international market entry through online presence and defined international operating models and technical solutions for e-commerce expansion.

His personal interest in digital retail has developed across three key trends: the shift in power from retailer to customer, in influence and control; the unprecedented scale of IT and business organisational change that digital has caused; and the creation of the digital global customer driving a new global marketplace and competitor landscape.

He has driven and supported the delivery of technology strategies and solutions for retail clients – including large-global supermarket, convenience and general merchandise retailers – in the US and Europe. Clients have included: Ahold, Best Buy, Carphone Warehouse, Co-operative Food, M&S, Sainsbury’s, Shell and Tesco

Oliver Brough, General Manager, E4X Europe
Olly joined E4X to continue the success the business has achieved through providing a currency management platform to 123 merchants who use their ecommerce sites to sell globally in many different currencies. Olly is focused on helping ecommerce retailers and travel companies reduce the cost, complexity and risk of being exposed to currency market fluctuations as their businesses expand into new geographic markets. Olly has 18 years of experience in the business technology market place covering currency management and payments, online fraud protection, identity management and customer analytics with QAS, Eiger Systems, Experian, 192business, 41st Parameter and now E4X.
 
 
Eric Fergusson, Head of Retail Services, OrderDynamics
Eric heads our Retail Services team, providing strategic and operational guidance in setting up and improving ecommerce and multichannel retail for our global clients. Prior to OrderDynamics, Eric was responsible for launching and trading stockless third party categories at Shop Direct (Very and Littlewoods), including Pets Accessories, Sportswear, Fancy Dress and Healthcare. He also oversaw the Insight and Analytics team and had an influential role in both corporate strategy and acquisition. Eric first started his career at OC&C Strategy Consultants, where he worked both in the UK and the US on Commercial Strategy for retailers such as WH Smith, The Container Store and Phones 4 U.
 
Danny Richman, Digital Marketing Consultant
Danny Richman is a digital marketing consultant with over 15 years’ experience of providing advice, training and support to businesses seeking to improve their digital marketing strategy and search engine visibility. Clients include Bank of England, Prince’s Trust, BBC, John Lewis and Marks & Spencer. Danny’s presentation aims to demystify the process of improving online visibility for your website for international search engine users.
   
   

Kieran Mongey – Senior Fraud Consultant, ReD

Kieran is theSenior Fraud Consultant inEMEA. In this role, he works closely with ReD’s customers and product development to identify areas where tailored fraud strategies can enable their businesses and create additional revenue streams.

Before taking up this role in 2013, Kieran led the EMEA Risk team at ReD, building a strong and efficient team that continues to deliver best practice fraud prevention and revenue enhancement strategies to merchant customers. He has held Fraud Management positions within leading merchants including John Lewis and Vodafone, specialising while at Vodafone in Payments, Credit & Network Fraud and at John Lewis as Financial Control Manager inBusiness Protection, Stock Loss& Payments Fraud as well as ownership ofthe online divisional Balance Sheet.

Kieran is a qualified accountant who has specialised in payments and fraud management over the last seven years. He is an experienced speaker at industry conferences and forums, including recent speaking engagements for Vendorcom, the IMRG and at ReD partner events. Kieran has previously served as a board member of the European Merchant Risk Council (MRC).
